Chocolate Fig Pies

A fabulous dessert for a dinner party or lazy lunch.



Ingredients
  • 2 sheets frozen puff pastry
  • 1/4 cup Nutella
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 5 figs, sliced lengthwise
  • 1 tablespoon caster sugar
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons apricot jam, mixed with a little water, warmed
  • cream, to serve
Method
  1. Preheat overn to 200C and line a baking tray with baking paper.
  2. Cut 8 circles from the pastry.  Place 4 circles on tray and spread with Nutella, leaving 1cm border.  Brush border with beaten egg.  Place remaining circles on top and seal edges with a fork.
  3. Brush tops of pastry rounds with egg.  Arrange figs on each round.  Sprinkle top with a little sugar and bake for 20 minutes, or until puffed and golden.
  4. When pastries are cooked, cool slightly.  Brush with jam and water mixture.  Serve with cream.
