Review
For those of you didn\'t see this delightful film at the cinema, it is a gem to watch out for on DVD.
Meryl Streep is simply wonderful as the indomitable Julia Child, bringing her to celuloid life complete with that fruitiest of accents and her towering height. From the moment I met her, I was beguiled. Hers was a path I wanted to follow, and her cooking exploits were indeed well documented.
Amy Adams as Julie Powell brought a sense of grimness and reality to the film - always on the edge of disatisfied, a little bit depressed, but reaching for that something more. I was more inspired by Julia Child, but Julie Powell is certainly an embodiment of current society, the disatisfied, unidentifiable malaise that afflicts many of us, and the rise in women bloggers (hello to you all out there - keep it up!).
I sat there, throughout the entire screening with a grin on my face, as I was transported by Meryl Streep to the 50\'s and 60\'s of Europe. I simply loved how Tucci and Streep bought to life the wonderful relationship between Paul and Julia.
I am gushing I know, and perhaps it will be too schmaltzy for some, but a wonderful, feel good, inspiring viewing for women out there (disatisfied or otherwise!).
