Learn New Skills
The New Skills Program is for the sewer who considers themselves a beginner.
You may not know how to operate a sewing machine, or you may be already sewing but would like to go back to the beginning and learn skills that will set you up for successful sewing.
The program could take as little as a 3 hour session or up to 6 weeks depending on the skills you already have.
Everyone works at their own pace. It is not necessary to have a sewing machine or an overlocker at home as Margaret has the machinery and equipment you need in the workroom.
In the New Skills Program you will learn about:
|FABRIC||Understanding fabric qualities such as its composition, weight, width, grain|
|DESIGN||Discover the styles that you like to wear|
|PATTERN||Using patternmaking tools, and reading simple pattern instructions|
||Use cutting and sewing tools
|SEW||Threading and troubleshooting the sewing machine and overlocker
Working with guides to become an accurate sewer
Mastering curves, points and corners
|BODY & FIT||Understanding your body shape|
