patterns for dressmaking


A good pattern is the start of a successful sewing project. A couple of tips:
  1. Keep in mind the nature of the fabric: the draping qualities of the fabric: the weave and grain lines of the fabric: the type and size of seam allowances appropriate to the fabric: the challenges of the fabric.
  2. And..... a pattern is not all about numbers. A good pattern relates to the body. That’s why a good pattern can be used over and over- different colours, different fabrics, different details.
